Courtney Hoit

  • My name is Courtney Hoit. I began my teaching career as an 8th grade mathematics teacher at Diamond Canyon in 2017. Starting the summer of 2020, I became a teacher for the DVUSD Pathways program and began teaching at Mountain Ridge High School. I have taught 8th grade math, Algebra 1-2, Algebra 3-4, Algebra 3-4 Honors, College Math, Algebra Applications, Pre-calculus and Geometry.  Previous to teaching, I worked in finance for 8 years. My love of education, children, and mathematics brought me to teaching. I enjoy middle school and high school-age children and see it as one of the most important times to instill a love of learning and an appreciation for math so they can achieve their college or career goals. I truly believe that each child is unique and has great potential to be successful in their endeavors. Beginning fall of 2022, I took over the position of 7 - 12 Math Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Specialist where I support teachers throughout the middle schools and high schools.

I received my bachelors of science in elementary education from the University of Phoenix. I am certified in elementary and secondary education and highly qualified to teach middle school and high school mathematics. I am currently working on my masters degree at Arizona State University. In my free time I enjoy hiking, boating, camping, and other outdoor activities with my husband and our two Australian shepherds and now our new daughter, born July 2022.
