    Information on Remote DIBELS testing--

Throughout the school year, Reading Specialists and teachers meet with students individually to do a brief progress check on Kindergarten through Third Grade students reading skills. We always begin the year with administering these checks to gain important information about a student’s literacy skills. This is an informal, low-stakes assessment.  The assessment identifies what each student has learned so far and identifies what skills still need to be taught. In order to gain this information, I’m requesting 15 minutes of your time to help me complete the reading check with your child.

Before we meet, please try to find a quiet space in front of a desktop, laptop, or tablet for your child. Earbuds or headphones are helpful but not required. We’ll test the audio together and make sure your child can clearly see my screen prior to starting. I have attached a video that might help you and your student understand what this assessment time will look like and reduce any concerns.

It is important for students to complete the assessment without help from caregivers, so while it may be tempting, please don’t help.

You will receive an email in the next week with your child's scheduled time block.   Please log into the Zoom meeting at a time that works for you within the time block shown.  When you log in, your student will be held in a waiting room while I complete testing with another student.  I greatly appreciate your patience during the wait.

I am always here to help and answer questions.
