Teaching Outcome

Students can color linking cubes in 2 different colors or draw a line to seperate the linking cube stick to make a number bond and a number sentence.

Students get familiar with number pairs in number 6, 7 and 8. (Composition and decomposition of number.)

Week 3 Activities about counting by 10s to 100

Teaching Outcome

It was 101 school day this Tuesday, so math lessons were designed around this theme.

We made 101-fruitloop necklaces, painted 101-dot dalmatians, designed houses with 50 marshmallows and 50 toothpicks.

Week 2 Module 4 Lesson 4-7

Teaching Outcome

Students can look at pictures and fill in number bonds.

Students can draw pictures stories to match number bonds.

Week 1 Module 3 Lesson 31-32 & Module 4 Lesson 1-3

Teaching Outcome

We reviewed shape names and features.

We started using Number Bond to match number stories.

Students can tell "Part-Part-Whole" in a number bond.

Semester 1

Week 18 Module 3 Lesson 23-26

Teaching Outcome

Students can compare more or less and put them into sentences, e.g. ____ is more/less than ____.

Week 17 Module 3 Lesson 18-22

Teaching Outcome

Students can compare the quantity of objects and tell which group has more/less or they are the same.

Based on the mastery of comparison of objects, students can compare 2 numbers and tell which number has more/less quantity or they're the same.

Students can write "多more", "少less" and "一样多the same amount".

Week 15 Module 3 Lesson 11-15

Teaching Outcome

Students can compare the capacity of different containers by measuring how many scoops of rice it can hold.

Students know how to say "满full".

Students understand that when it comes to containers with different shapes, one may look bigger/taller than the other, while the result of capacity may turn out to be the opposite or the same.

Week 14 Module 3 Lesson 8-10

Teaching Outcome

Students can compare objects using hands or scale to tell which is heavier/lighter.

Students can measure the weight of an objects using pennies/linking cubes, e.g. A ball's weight is equal to 15 pennies.

Week 13 Module 3 Lesson 4-7

Teaching Outcome

Students can compare objects to linking cube towers to see which are longer/shorter/the same.

The building of number towers will prepare them for future comparison of the quantities of numbers and understand why we say this number is bigger than that number.

We also start to practice counting to 100: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RNFE4690fk

Week 12 Module 2 Lesson 9 & Module 3 Lesson 1-3

Teaching Outcome

Students can compare longer than/taller than and shorter than.

Studnets know how to align endpoints of things to get accurate comparison.

Students can recognize character "长longer".

Week 11 Module 2 Lesson 5-8

Teaching Outcome

Students can name or understand trapzoid (T形sounds like T shin in Mandarin), dimond (菱形sounds like lin shin), oval (椭圆形sounds like toy yuan shin).

Students can sort 2-D shapes based on whether they have curves or cornors.

Students can name 3-D shapes sphere (球体 sounds like choke tee), cube (正方体), cone (圆锥体), and cylinder (圆柱体 sounds like juice in the middle).

Students can sort 3-D shapes based on whether they have faces, curves, cornors or edges, whether they can roll or stack on each other steadily.

Week 10 Module 2 Lesson 3&4

Teaching Outcome

Students can name "三角形triangle", "长方形rectangle", "正方形square", and "圆形circle".

(Our curriculum says that square is a special rectangle. :)

Students can tell tell the characteristics of these 4 shapes.

Week 9 Module 1 Lesson 36&37 and Module 2(Shapes) Lesson 1&2

Teaching Outcome

Students can sort 2-D shapes into 2 groups based on which ones have curves and which ones don't have curves.

Students can name the characteristics of a triangle, idenfy and draw one.
