Ms. Simmons

Welcome to Rm. 606! My name is Erin Simmons, and I am a 7th grade English Language Arts teacher at Deer Valley Middle School. This is my first year on campus, and I am grateful to have been welcomed into a community of competent, passionate, and impactful educators.

I graduated from Westmont College, a small private college in Santa Barbara, California, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies: Elementary Education in December of 2013. I continued my education at Westmont and completed their California Teaching Credential Program in the spring of 2014.

I began my teaching career as an international teacher, teaching elementary at a private international institution in Costa Rica from 2014 to 2018. In July of 2018, I moved to Arizona where I taught single subject elementary as the English Subject Expert Teacher for fourth grade. In the summer of 2019, I made the jump to middle school teaching, and though I was nervous at first, I absolutely love teaching and learning with my seventh graders!

Outside of school, I try to keep up with my toddler, experiment with cooking and baking, read romance, crime, and psychology books, and pin really cool things on Pinterest that I will probably never attempt.
