• Mrs. Scheetz's Reading Intervention Class!         WELCOME!


     System 44 online zoom classes will start the week of August 17th.  Students will see a System 44 course within their canvas classes.  Students will log in every day the week of August 17th for whole group instruction.  Starting the week of August 24th students will be given their rotation schedule and log into small group two times per week and complete their system 44 software three times per week on those days they don’t have small group zoom meetings. 

    Rotations: Using the System 44 instructional materials, students are provided systematic instruction in phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Using proven strategies, students will rotate through the following formats:  

    • Small-Group -  direct instruction, word building, phonics practice pages, and decodable text.  Students will be assigned either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday for small group lessons on zoom.
    • System 44 Software - Students will use the System 44 Software independently, providing them with an intensive, individualized skills practice.  Students will be expected to work on the software 3 days per week for at least 20 minutes on the days they aren’t receiving small group instruction.

    Course Description: System 44 is a Scholastic reading intervention program. The program uses differentiated and direct instruction, adaptive and instructional software, high-interest literature, and focuses on phonics, spelling, comprehension, vocabulary and fluency. It is an intensive reading intervention program that has been proven effective for those students needing additional reading support. 

    Course Objectives: The objective of System 44 is to provide systematic instruction that will improve achievement levels in reading, writing, and vocabulary.  The System 44 classroom is a special place for reading, learning, and sharing ideas that support and build academic language.
