Mrs. Krista Gibson
My name is Krista Gibson, and this is my first year at Canyon Springs STEM Academy. I am looking forward to a superb year of learning and fun.
While this is my first year at Canyon Springs, it is not my first year of teaching. I taught 5th grade in a self-contained gifted program in the Peoria district for 6 years, 2 years in Flagstaff and the 19-20 year at Las Brisas Elementary as their SAGE math teacher and Gifted Specialist. Prior to that, I was in the nursing profession. My husband and I have three daughters; all of whom were identified as gifted sometime around 2010, and that changed the trajectory of my professional life. I desired to know more about this giftedness they were identified as, and was immediately intrigued! I switched my degree from nursing to teaching, graduated and secured a position as a self-contained gifted teacher with Peoria district immediately after graduation. In 2016 I graduated from ASU with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Gifted Education. I am currently pursuing National Board Certification in Exceptional Needs Specialist with a focus specifically on Gifted Students. I have a passion for helping gifted kiddos and their families, so please feel free to ask me your questions!
I am honored to be one of the Canyon Springs Wolves and the STEM Specialist for the Renaissance Academy!
