Mrs. Smith / Henry
Mrs. Smith has been teaching for 16 years. This is her 12th year in Deer Valley School District. She has spent those years as a Physical Education teacher, Health teacher, Leadership teacher and RTI-B specialists. She has lead three State recognized school PBIS teams. She has presented twice at the state BETC conference, three times at AZHealth & Physical Education conference, and she is a state coach in PBIS. In 2015, she helped create the Arizona Physical Education Standards. She has a son and daughter who both attended Sandra Day O’Conner High School in the district. She was named the Deer Valley athletic coach of the year in 2012 and Deer Valley Teacher of the year in 2013. As a Physical Education teacher personal and social responsibility has always been embedded in how she teaches. In 2010 she was asked by her Principal to lead her school in implementing PBIS and she truly believes it has made her a better teacher and coworker. She strongly advocates that there are no bad kids. There are kids who may be struggling either emotionally, socially, and/or academically which causes them to make bad decisions.
