We are arranging a staff caravan through the Sunset Ridge neighborhood today at 10:00 am. We’ll make as many streets as possible 😁, it should take about an hour. We will be practicing social distancing and will not be stopping our cars or to hug or giving high fives. See the Sunset Ridge PTA facebook page to see the map of where we will be traveling. Please come out to wave and say hi as we drive by. We would love to see you!

We want to reach out and tell all of our families that we hope you are all doing well during this time. We are thinking about you all and miss the kids dearly. We are expecting to hear from the district and administration next week regarding how we move froward from here. I am not sure what that may include but we will reach out to you as soon as we know more. Take care and stay healthy!! Tell the kids we said "hi" and that we miss them.

Welcome back! We hope you all had a relaxing holiday season and enjoyed time with family. It's hard to believe that third quarter is already upon us. This quarter is usually an exciting time of year when we see lots of growth in the students. Many of the skills we have established in the first half of the year are now coming together to create great little readers and writers. As exciting as that is, we still have a great deal to do. Please help us to keep the students learning be reminding them about following classroom expectations and following classroom rules. We appreciate your support.
We will soon begin our "take home" reading program. This program allows students to bring home books at their reading level to practice reading strategies. New books are sent home everyday. Watch for the permission slip to perticipate to come home in the next couple weeks.
Finally, we have quite a collection of unclaimed jackets on the kindergarten playground. If your child is missing a jacket please have them check the kindergarten fence where they are hanging up or send a quick note to your child's teacher describing the missing item. Also, labeling all removable garments helps us to find the correct owner when things turn up. Thanks for your help.

This week we are wrapping up our three week study of literature on bears. We have focused on Brown Bear, Brown Bear, Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Corduroy. During our readings we have been learning about the story elements of character, setting and main idea. To celebrate the end of our bear unit we will be having a Teddy Bear picnic tomorrow. Please have your child bring his/her favorite teddy bear (or other stuffed animal if they don't have a teddy bear) and small snack for our picnic.
Next week we will have our first school wide spirit week fundraiser. We ask that your child bring at least $1.00 throughout the week if they participate. If you feel like donating a $1.00 every day, that is awesome, but by no means expected. Any and all donations are graciously accepted
