Mrs. Mrs. Tews
My name is Jenny Tews and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher this year. I have taught at Anthem School for several years and I am proud to be a part of this wonderful community here at Anthem.
I have worked with children in a variety of capacities for over 20 years. I worked as a preschool teacher for many years in both California and North Carolina as well as being a paraprofessional in a Developmental PreK classroom here in Deer Valley. I received my Bachelor’s in Education from Grand Canyon University in 2019. I have been with DVUSD since 2015 ,and I know it is going to be another amazing year.
I have been married for over 20 years to my husband Andy ,and we have 4 beautiful children. We also have 4 crazy dogs; Scout and Charlie are Beagle mixes, Finn is a Yorkie mix and Nellie is a Border Collie. We have been lucky enough to travel all over the United States and experience many different cultures. I grew up in Northern California and have lived in North Carolina, Puerto Rico and now Arizona. I love to read, do puzzles, spend time at the beach and hang out with my family and friends.
I value parents being actively involved in their child's education and work diligently to keep a bridge between our classroom and home. As a teacher, it is my mission to educate and help every child who enters the classroom to discover his or her potential. I have high expectations of all students. It is my desire to not only teach students about the topics in our curriculum, but also to prepare them to become productive, healthy, happy, and engaged members of the world as they grow in the years ahead. I strive to provide a classroom that is nurturing, safe, enriching, and enjoyable for all members of our classroom family to thrive. I understand that children learn at different rates and with different modalities, so I strive to meet each student's needs by utilizing a variety of techniques and strategies. I hope that every child will become a lifelong learner, armed with the tools necessary to adapt to the ever-changing world around them.
