At the ballpark
  • Welcome to the 2020–2021 school year!

This year starts my 23rd year teaching; though, not all of it has been full time. After graduating from ASU, I taught special education and first grade for six years. It was then that I had my two amazing boys. I stayed home with them until they were old enough to go to school. Once they were in school, I enjoyed being a parent volunteer and substitute teacher. Four years ago, I returned to teaching full time when I started teaching at Highland Lakes. I am excited to begin a new position this year, splitting my day between Elementary Special Education and being a K-3 Reading Specialist. Teaching kids reading has always been my passion and I am extremely excited to see the kids again to help them become better readers and writers.

In my personal life, my husband, Eric, and I have been married for 23 years. We have two fantastic boys and are proud Skyhawks parents as both boys attend Deer Valley High School. Both boys enjoy playing baseball. My oldest plays on the DVHS Varsity baseball team and my younger plays club ball with hopes of playing for DVHS this year. Because of them, I usually spend my weekends rooting for them and their teams. We also enjoy visiting ballparks over the summer, going hiking, biking and trying new and fun outdoor activities.

I am really excited for the upcoming year and know we are going to have a great year together.
