Exploratory Classes Offered to Enhance Students' Education
Desert Sky has classes for all students' interests including Exploratory classes, Career Action Lab (Stem/Health Sciences), Computer Science, Computer Applications, Family Consumer Science, Spanish, Art, Band/Chorus, and the districts only Woodshop/Building Skills class.

Hello Thunderbolt Community,
My name is Michelle Martin, and I am proud to serve as the new Principal of Desert Sky Middle School! Middle school is where my career began, when I served as a 7th Grade Science Teacher for 13 years at Explorer Middle School in the PV School District. I am so excited to be back in a true middle school. I am excited for the new school year and all that it has in store for our students, staff and parents.
I graduated from ASU…three times! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Education, a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and another Master’s in Administration. I have been happily married to my husband, Todd, for 22 years. He is always supportive of me and the school I work at. So, if you see a handsome red head around campus, it is probably him! We have two rescue cats who we absolutely adore as if they were our own children. Fans of fur babies…you know what I am talking about.
My administrative career began as a Dean of Students for one year at North Canyon High School, and two years at Pinnacle High School, both in PVUSD. For the past nine years I have served as an Assistant Principal at Mountain Ridge High School.
What is clearly evident about Desert Sky is how much the staff loves being here, and how much they love working with our students. We have staff who have been with us for years because they love Desert Sky so much. We also have several staff members who attended Desert Sky as students! We all share the same value to address the needs of the whole student: academically, behaviorally, socially and emotionally. I know it takes a village, and I am committed to partnering with the Thunderbolt families and students along with the community.
I look forward to meeting and seeing you at our parent and family events. I look forward to partnering with you as we get ready for an exciting year ahead!
