Mrs. Young

  • Welcome to Art!

My name is Kathryn Young and I am the art teacher here at Anthem School. This will be my fourth year at Anthem School and I am very excited to continue exploring art with all my students!

My family moved to Arizona about four years ago from Maryland.  I graduated from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania in 2005 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Graphic Design.  I worked for ten years at the University of Maryland hospital for the Department of Emergency Medicine in their finance department.  I had various roles there in the department and lent my graphic design skills to design various logos, advertisements, and brochures over the years.  I decided to go back to school and received my Masters in Teaching and K-12 art certification at Loyola University Maryland in 2017. In my spare time I enjoy traveling and spending time with my husband, two children (6 and 9), and puppy. I also love photography, cooking, movies and anything hands-on that is creative.

    Want to Help Out?

The art classroom often gets overlooked when it comes to volunteers but we could really use them. If you are interested in volunteering in the art room, please email me at

    Donations Welcome!

In addition to donations of time, we also look for donations of items you may already have around the house.  These items can include: washed plastic containers (yogurt cups, coffee cans, etc.), newspapers/magazines, old craft supplies that you don’t use anymore (fabric scraps, yarn, beads, etc.), jigsaw puzzels (24/48/100 pieces), and Play-Doh.  We could also use tissues, hand lotion (unscented), ziplock baggies of all sizes, and black Sharpies.
