Originally from Byron, Illinois, I have lived in Arizona since 1995.  I graduated from Arizona State University (go Sun Devils!) with a Bachelors in Social Work and a Minor in Communication.  It was during my internship as a school social worker that I discovered my passion for education.  I worked part-time at a transitional facility for youth at risk and worked full-time as a legal secretary at a small law firm in Phoenix.
After 16 years, I decided it was finally time to pursue my dream.  I went back to school and graduated from Ottawa University with a Masters in Education in School Counseling.  I interned at a K-8 school in the Deer Valley Unified School District and I am beyond excited to be a part of the Hillcrest team! I am a member of the Arizona School Counseling Association and the PTSO at my children's school.
In my spare time, I love to read a good book, go hiking on the mountains with my husband and kids, and explore northern Arizona.

I grew up in Littleton Colorado so yes I am a Broncos fan (unless the Cardinals are in the Super Bowl).  I moved to Phoenix when I was 17 and finished high school at Shadow Mountain.

I graduated from ASU with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies.  From there, I taught at the middle school level for 8 years and during that time I obtained my Masters Degree in Education from ASU.  I love learning and growing, so I continued my education and received my Counseling Certification from Ottowa University and my Administrative Certification from the University of Phoenix. In 2011, I was selected as one of the Deer Valley Teacher of the year.  Outside of Hillcrest, I am an instructor for Rio Salado College and in 2016 I was selected as the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty member in their education department. I have really enjoyed my role helping future teachers learn more about Adolescence.
On a personal note, I have three children who I adore and three rescue dogs (Hero, Rocket and Rogue).  I love to go to the movies and spend time with my family and friends. I am also the Spritline Coach at Hillcrest and love working with the team and watching them grow in skills over the course of a season.
I have spent my entire career working with Middle School aged children and I look forward to working with all of the Hillcrest students and parents.

While I am native to California, I grew up in eastern Washington in the rural town of Cheney.  I graduated high school and after several years of odd jobs, enrolled in the local community college.  I completed my Bachelor's degree in psychology and went directly in to the Master's program in psychology with a school counseling emphasis from Eastern Washington University.  Immediately after graduating, I moved back to California for the warm weather.  I've always had a passion for working with students with disabilities as a child with early onset Rheumatoid Arthritis.  I was a high school counselor for 12 years near Palm Springs and then worked at multiple colleges counseling and teaching psychology.  I have also been the coordinator for disability programs at several colleges.

My husband's job transferred him to Arizona last July, and while I have always been a California girl at heart, it was time to move.  I love the hot weather here in Arizona and the beauty of the desert and all it offers.  I love traveling, music, exploring new places, cooking, and spending time with family, friends and my church family.  I am a cat lover and my latest are 2 rescue kitties, Kiya and Nala.

I look forward to getting to know the Hillcrest students, parents and staff.
