Miss Monica Velasco

Dear Families,

My name is Monica Velasco and I am so excited to be your child’s Special Education Teacher. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with your child this year! This will be my first year at Diamond Canyon! We are going to learn so many new and exciting things together. My main goal as your child’s teacher is to provide a positive, safe and supportive environment. Every child is so incredibly special to me, and I am so excited to learn more about both you and your child so we can best support them this year. I believe that all of you are the experts of your own children, so we can work together as a team!

I attended the University of Arizona to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education Mild to Moderate Disabilities (K-12), so I am a Wildcat at heart! Recently I attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to receive my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education for Birth to 3rd grade. This will be my second year of teaching, and I am so happy to be teaching at Diamond Canyon Elementary School this year!

My main teaching philosophy is to be the type of teacher that supports each and every student according to their specific individual needs. I am a teacher who educates my students in doing whatever they set their minds to, if they stay extremely focused and make every effort to reach their personal and academic goals. I am a passionate advocate for ALL children, and believe that all children can be successful and learn, it just might not be in the same way or on the same day. Please reach out with any questions I am here to support your child and family in any way that I can! Have a beautiful day!
