Free Safe Learning Space is available only to registered DVUSD students and will begin 8/17/2020. The end date is subject to change, depending on our actual return to brick and mortar instruction.

    • No charge for Safe Learning Space hours
      • 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM school days
      • 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM PLC early release Fridays
    • Parents will be required to check-in their student at the start of the day to ensure that necessary materials are in the student’s possession (e.g. mask, computer, headphones, etc.).
    • Students not picked up by the end time indicated will be checked into the child care program and charged a late pick-up fee.
    • Unscheduled drop-in days will not be permitted. Students must be registered into the program at least 5 business days in advance. The District will adhere to a registration cycle for when parents can register a child and when the child can begin attending.
    • Students will be in small cohorts and will connect with their teachers virtually and complete assignments.
    • Students are required to bring all learning materials so they are able to connect virtually with their teachers in order to participate.
    • Students will be expected to adhere to behavioral expectations in order to participate.
    • Free Safe Learning Space is not child care.  This is a supervised safe space.
    • Teachers will not be present to provide academic support. (Teachers will be instructing their classes virtually.)
    • Staff may provide technical assistance (login, navigation, etc.) and help clarify questions. Tutoring is not available.
    • High school students may register to attend Free Safe Learning Space at Norterra Canyon School.
    • Local, state and and national health agency recommendations are in place including hand sanitizing, social distancing, and face masks.
    • Students must bring their own technology device and personal headphones.
    • DVUSD Waiver, Release, and Assumption of Risk form must be signed.
    • DVUSD Engagement and Behavior Contract must be signed.

All students must be registered in advance at ELEYO and supply all required documentation/immunizations/waivers/releases.  This will require entering a credit/debit card; however, a fee will not be charged unless there is a late pick-up.

Registration will begin at 8:00 am on Monday, August 3 and end at noon on Friday, August 7 to be eligible to begin on August 17. Consistent with the Governor’s Executive Order, a maximum capacity has been set in order to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19. This means that it is possible that not every registered student will be able to start on August 17. If program interest exceeds capacity, DVUSD will work to add additional sites as needed.

Additional sites may be added as the need arises.
