Mr. Phil Goldblatt
Phil Goldblatt (Mr. G.) is excited to start his third year as a Bulldog at Barry Goldwater High School! Although he was born in Philadelphia, PA, he considers Phoenix his home. He attended schools in the Paradise Valley Unified School District and graduated from Horizon High School in 2004. He holds a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelor of Music Education from Northern Arizona University. He is currently the choral director at Paradise Valley Community College. Prior to his appointment at Barry Goldwater, he was the director of choirs at Shadow Mountain High School, Desert Shadows Middle School and the associate director of choirs at Horizon High School. Students under Mr. Goldblatt's direction have received gold festival awards in numerous choral festivals throughout the southwest United States and have been accepted into regional, state, and national honor choirs. Recently, many of his students were selected to perform in numerous American Choral Directors Association Honor Choirs in Pasadena, CA; Reno, NV; Dallas, TX; and Santa Barbara, CA. Mr. Goldblatt was the 2015 Arizona Middle Level Association Teacher of the Year and was honored to receive a Recognition of Professional Standards Award in from the Paradise Valley Education Association in 2016.
When he’s not busy with work, he performs locally with the Sonoran Desert Chorale, hangs out with his dogs, Lani and Nala, and binge watches shows on way too many platforms that get more expensive each year.
