This week in 3rd Grade Math!  

Standard:  3.OA.A.3 Use multiplication and division within 100 to solve word problems in situations involving equal groups, arrays, and measurement quantities. 

Module 3 

Student-friendly learning intentions:

• I am learning to apply commutative and distributive property of multiplication to solve facts of 6, 7, 8, and 9 in order to relate multiplication and division facts. (Topic A)
• I am learning to count by units of 6 and 7 in order to interpret the unknown in multiplication and division problems. (Topic B) 

Learning Intentions vocabulary:

Commutative property : no matter the order of the factors, the product is still the same (2 x 7= 7 x 2)

Relate multiplication and division: 2 x 7 = 14, 14 divided by 7 = 2

Count by units: skip counting by 6s and 7s to 60 and 70 

Interpret the unknown: 2 x ___ = 14

                                14 divided by ____ = 2

                                unknown is 7
