Our classroom will be using the Boys Town Educational Model this school year. It is a program to support students’ social and emotional learning by teaching replacement skills. Students are motivated through incentives. They are given reminders through common language, and disruptions are diffused.

We identify different skills each student needs throughout the year.  Preventative teaching is used to teach the skills that are needed. We give effective praise and positive consequences/earn positive points.  If needed, we use corrective teaching, students may earn a loss of points, and teach self-control.

At the end of each day, students are conferenced with a teacher or para in the classroom. A note is written home as well. Points are calculated for the day. Students may purchase treats, toys, free time, or special events with points.
