Reading / Language Arts
A Pocketful of Rhymes - this site has loads of cool poetry for students to read or use as models for their own reading.Alphabet Action - When children click on a letter they can hear its sound and see a picture that corresponds to the letter. Clifford Reading - You can read a story about Clifford the big red dog, play a game with clifford, match letters and more.
Drag it - Drag a vowel sound into the slot to spell the word correctly. Use the slow/fast slider to increase the challenge.
Harcourt Reading - Grammer, Proofreading, plus much more.
I Spy - Several games of I Spy. Look to see if you can beat the clost to find different objects.
Rats - Try and get the mouse to catch the vowels or consonants that the buzzard drops. You can choose the grade level.
Snap It - Look carefully at the cards to see if they match. When you see a pair click Snap! But don't get Snap happy - if you get it wrong, you lose a point. Use the slow/fast slider to increase the challenge. Faster is harder but you get more Snaps!

Whirlyword Machine - A game where you deside if the word is a real word or not. Spin the wheel to make new words. This game has 3 different levels
Word Blender - Help Wordblender make words by choosing a start sound (onset) and an end sound (rime) to blend together. Wordblender will tell you if you're right or not. You might even be able to make some new words that don't exist!
Word Turtle - This is a custom seek and find word search game. You give FunBrain a list of words which it then hides in the puzzle. Select a level and whether you want to play against FunBrain or if you want the puzzle to be printed out on paper so you can play it away from the computer.
Star Words - As each Star Word is delivered you must choose which shape it matches - is it the planet, the rocket or the black hole? The word may fragment first (depending on the settings in the Teacher's Control Panel) in which case you must repair it by clicking on the scattered letters in the right order.
Starfall - Starfall is a creative website designed to teach children to read. The hope is that this free website will help to inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning. The interactive books available here have sound - so please turn your speakers on! Teachers may request free writing journals for classroom use that reinforce the sequential phonics lessons of each interactive book. The Starfall learn-to-read program was created to meet the needs of the emergent reader by incorporating rhyming games and high-interest books that teach phonemic awareness (sounds in words), phonics, decoding skills, and comprehension. The program is designed to instill confidence and enable the child to proceed as quickly as possible to a balanced reading program.
