- Class Expectations
-
The class has one rule: Respect. The students are asked to respect themselves, their peers, the school, school equipment, and the teacher.
The class is set up to be discussion based. There rarely is formal homework. However, the expectation is that students spend at least 20 minutes a night either reviewing their notes, or working on projects or assignments. Assignments are entered into Canvas, and submissions should be online through Canvas - students usually have between four days and a week to complete and submit assignments. For class, students are expected to have two separate notebooks, one for science, and one for social science, as well as either black or blue ballpoint pens. Pencils are greatly discouraged. Scissors, a ruler, and glue often come in handy.
For assignments, what I'm looking for and grading on is:
-clear evidence of understanding of the material, not just "cut and paste"
-creativity in their presentation of their new-found knowledge
-evidence of the student's unique "voice"
