Miss Rachael
Hi! I'm Miss Rachael. This will be my second year as Library Clerk at Desert Mountain School. Prior to this, I was a full-time nanny, after being a stay-at-home mom for a few years. I've also been a server, manager, medical scheduler, piano teacher, custodian, etc...I like to consider myself a jack of all trades, but this particular trade is, by far, my favorite.
I am an avid reader and am very passionate about making sure kids get just as excited about reading as I do!
Last year my goal was to make the library a more welcoming and comfortable environment where students and teachers can enjoy coming to read, study, relax or play quiet games. I think it's important for a library to feel like home, and for everyone to feel welcome.
I incorporated a new activity center that will continue to grow as I'm able to access more materials. I have been trying to include lots of STEM activities and books, which I'm hoping will be further utilized this year.
For this coming year my goal is to update and redesign our teacher resource center. Currently, all the materials we have are very outdated, and our teacher resource center has not been utilized as much as it can be. I'd like to get rid of everything and start fresh.
My other goal this year is to get 7th and 8th graders more involved in the library. I want to start a Young Adult Book Club to meet the first Friday of every month. I also want to have 7th and 8th grade library volunteers that can be trained to put away books properly, and help with younger classes when available.
I'm looking forward to making this year a legendary library experience!
