Hello first grade families! I am so excited to return to Las Brisas for a second year!
I earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University in 2001, and I taught first grade for four years in the Madison District. I went on to teach one year of second grade and five years of first grade at Anthem School in DVUSD. During that time I earned a master's degree in Early Childhood Education with a Reading Endorsement from Northern Arizona University. I took an unexpected ten year break from teaching to tend to the needs of my family, and during that time, I joined the Family Advisory Council for Feeding Matters, a non-profit organization that supports children with pediatric feeding disorders. I was honored to be a presenter at the 2022 virtual Pediatric Feeding Disorder conference, and I currently volunteer as a family coach for their Power of Two program.
My husband Jeremy and I celebrated our 25th anniversary this summer, and have two amazing daughters. Genevieve is 11 and entering 6th grade, and Cecilia is almost 9 and entering 3rd grade. We also have two orange brother cats named Samson and Oliver who bring much joy and a little frustration to our family.
