Learning Center 2017/2018 School Year
Welcome to an exciting year in the Learning Center! We have a great environment to help your child achieve academic and social success. Thank you for entrusting us with your child. We are looking forward to another great year working with your children!
What is the Learning Center?
The Learning Center is an area of West Wing that is comprised of academic centers. Within the Learning Center environment, students at West Wing can receive extra help with assignments; take tests in a small group environment, and work with the Service Coordinators (Special Education Teachers) and para professionals to achieve individual annual goals that are part of their Individual Education Programs (IEPs) . Children without IEPs are also welcome to take tests in the Learning Center. The Service Coordinators work with the general education teachers to ensure academic success for all students with IEPs.
Here at West Wing we have 4 separate learning centers on campus. Each learning center is designed and equiped to meet each students individual needs. We strive to make the students feel happy and sucessful in their educational careers.
Who will work with my child?
Your child is assigned to one Service Coordinator also know as a Special Education teacher. The model in the Learning Center is one where the Service Coordinators work together as a team to help all students achieve their academic and social goals. This means your child may work with more than one service coordinator thoughout their day. Some students require the assistance of a Para Professional. The Service Coordinators guide our Para Professionals to assist the students in acheiving their IEP goals. The Service Coordinators work closely with the general edcuation teachers to ensure academic sucess for all students with IEPs.
If you have questions, concerns, or just want to check in with your child’s Service Coordinator, please contact them directly. If you are unclear about which Service Coordinator is assigned to your child, please feel free to contact any Service Coordinator and we will give you the name of the Service Coordinator assigned to your child.
