Getting Started Successfully
Welcome to Pathways,
To be successful in my class during your pathway travels, here is what is expected of you during the times we work together:
* Always be on time!! That is a character that you can build on. Being on time for class, work or even dinner with your grandparents will show integrity and promises for the future you.
* Always respect yourself!! We know that you might be taking this class again, so what! The idea that you respect yourself and dive right back into the class, to better yourself and your grades. That is Respect for yourself, and the teacher will see integrity on your behalf.
* Always work hard!! - Give your best each day you are in pathways. Work hard and give yourself a chance. Maybe 100% is not always the goal on certain days, but at least do your best for that day and accomplish something. That is better than nothing!!
* Always respect your classmates: Your classmates are in the same class, trying to improve themselves as you are. Support your friend, and give each other support as they work, and work along with them. Be successful together and make a new friend!!
* Always be honest with yourself!! The truth is the key to success. Trying to remember a lie is harder each time you tell it. Telling the truth is easy - one time - one story!!
If you meet those expectations, you will have a great experience in Pathways and, hopefully, in your life.

Class Expectations
Pathways Guidelines and Expectations - All policies will be strictly enforced and is not subject to teacher discretion.
At pathways we know that society is changing and technology is all around us. We have embraced this and want to show our students what a powerful learning tool technology can be. The reality is that in our students' future careers they will have access to technology and need to know when and how to use it appropriately for the rest of their lives. This will sometimes mean that it is appropriate to put technology to the side to better focus on the task at hand.
Pathways students will have their technology put away during class time unless a teacher requests them to get it out to use for educational purposes. If a student does not comply with this policy, the following steps will be taken:
1st Offense: Teacher will remind the student to put technology away.
2nd Offense: Teacher will have a conference with the students about the expectations of the class and the use of technology.
3rd Offense: Teacher will make a contact home and letting parents know about the technology infraction and ask for help in curbing the issue.
4th Offense: Student will be refreeed to the administration for futher disciplinary actions.
At any time during the process, if the student escalates the issue, the student can be removed from the class, with the chance of not returning to the classroom for the session.
During class breaks, students will be allowed to access their personal electronics!

Mr. Tony Hamilton M.Ed.
Dear Families,
Welcome to Pathways and to my Economic class. My name is Mr. Tony Hamilton, and I am excited to be teaching your son or daughter in my class. A little about me and who I am. I grew up in Paradise Valley and attended Shadow Mountain High School (81) and then attended Grand Canyon College (89) to earn my Exercise Science and my Business Marketing degree. Once completed, I attended Ottawa University and completed my education hours to become a teacher. I also attended University of Phoenix for my Master's in Administration and Supervision (2006).
I have been teaching for 35 years; 30 years in the Deer Valley Unified School District and 4 years in Peoria, prior to coming to Deer Valley Unified. I have coached at high school for almost 38 years; Mountain Ridge ( football and Varsity Softball (96 - 99) and many other schools and sports in the valley. I recently spent the last 5 years at West Wing as their Athletic Director (Administrator of the year - 2018).
I have 2 wonderful grown adult girls, and I am a grandfather of 4 wonderful grand-kids. Ranging from 12 years of age to 5 years old. They all attend the Deer Valley Unified School District. I have currently been teaching for the last 20 years at Boulder Creek High School ( World History and Senior Economics).
I thank you for trusting me in having your son/ daughter and, hopefully, we can have great experience in pathways and to help them succeed with completing their class and being successful.
