Parent Information
Pathways ELA 3 - 4 is a sophomore level course. We will meet at Barry Goldwater High School at 2820 W. Rose Garden Lane, Phoenix, AZ 85027 on Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. from July 8, 2024 until August 2, 2024. Cell phones must be turned off and kept inside the student’s backpack during class.
I look forward to working with you and your child toward a successful outcome. We will be learning the curriculum in a short amount of time so it is very important that the students stay on task and use their time wisely. They will have plenty of time in class to complete all course work so they will not have homework. The only exception to this is if they do not use the class time to complete their work.
If your student is having any trouble or feels they are not being successful in any way please do not hesitate to contact me so I can help them be successful.
The best way to contact me is in Canvas. I will receive it much quicker as it goes directly to my email in our canvas class. Parents & guardians may also email me directly.
You may seek a response via email, phone, or video (Zoom).
When contacting me please include the following:
-
Your name
-
Your child's name
-
Your preferred method of contact
-
Your best time for contact.
To protect student information, only parents/guardians listed on the student contact sheet will be contacted.
About the Teacher
Mrs. Nena Holt
Welcome!
This is my 30th year teaching and 29th year in the Deer Valley Unified District! I am also a graduate of the Deer Valley School District. I have taught everything from Kindergarten to College! I love teaching and working with students to be successful! My BA is in Education with an English Minor. My Master's is in Reading and Educational Leadership.
My husband and I have been married 37 years and we have three beautiful daughters. We have 8 grandchildren that we love spending time with. We just returned from a four week trip to visit them in Kansas City. We also went up to Traverse City, Empire, and Mackinac Island, MI. I fell in love with the beautiful landscape and look forward to visiting again!!
My favorite thing to do is travel! I love exploring the US as well as other countries. One of my favorite places is San Juan, PR. I loved the cobblestone streets and beautiful colors in Old San Juan. I also enjoy scrapbooking, playing games and going to the movies with my grandchildren.
I look forward to meeting and working with all of you this year. If there is anything I can help you with PLEASE let me know!
Best regards,
