Accelerated Learning Calendar
Over the past three years that students have been impacted by the pandemic, our school calendar has remained the same. The pandemic gives us a chance to think outside of the box, to look for different ways to intervene when students struggle or try to overcome learning loss or learning lag. One of those strategies is looking at a possible change from the traditional school calendar to more of an accelerated learning calendar that provides 2 week intersession breaks in the fall, winter, and spring. Student learning days remain at 180, however with the two week intersession breaks at the end of each quarter, there is greater opportunity to provide intervention and enrichment closer to the time when a student first struggles, or wishes to excel rather than months later during the summer session. The DVUSD calendar committee is reviewing different calendar options to accelerate student learning. DVUSD stakeholder groups will be able to provide input in a survey beginning February 25.Learn more about the Accelerated learning Calendar option by clicking the buttons below.
