From Our Principal

Meet Mrs. Christine Fitzsimmons
Silverhawk Families,
I am very humbled and honored to introduce myself as the new principal of The Traditional Academy at Bellair and to join this excellent school community.
I can assure you that I share in this school community's dedication to caring for our students every day while providing them with a meaningful, safe learning environment.
Although I am an educator, I am also a wife and mother. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 28 years and have three amazing children. My husband's name is Rodney, and he has been working in the private education sector for the last 18 years. My oldest daughter's name is Courtney (27), and she is going to Glendale Community to earn her degree in Fine Arts. My second daughter's name is Jennifer (23), and she is going to Glendale Community College and ASU to earn her degree in Nursing. My one and only son is Joseph (22), and he is going to ASU to finish his degree in
Business & Accounting.
The 2022-23 school year will mark my 20th year in education. I have served as a 6th grade teacher in the Marana Unified School District for 9 years, where I served on teacher evaluation committees, was a grade level lead, was the Student Council Sponsor and coached middle school basketball. I then moved on to the charter world, where I helped open Legacy Traditional School NW Tucson as Assistant Principal. After one year of AP, I was moved into the Principal position where I helped establish the campus and successfully helped to maintain our "A" letter grade from the state. I then moved to Las Vegas to help establish a sister campus for 2 years and moved back down to Arizona. I recently finished up my charter experience at Academy of Math and Science Peoria Advanced, where I have been for the past few years.
I am honored to be a part of the Deer Valley Family. It truly feels like I am coming home! Please know that my door is always open to you. I sincerely welcome your conversation and input during this school year. Let us keep our students the primary focus of our work. I can't wait to celebrate our collective successes during the 2022-2023 school year.
