Bernadette Richardson was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Bilingual/ESL Endorsement. She began her teaching career in downtown Glendale where she taught Bilingual Kindergarten for 3 years. She then began teaching in the Deer Valley School District at Paseo Hills Elementary, where she taught 1st grade. She also taught 1st and 2nd grade at Bellair Elementary, where she earned her Reading Endorsement and her Early Childhood Endorsement. Bernadette then returned to Paseo Hills, where she taught 3rd grade. She then became a Mentor Teacher and taught second grade. After being in the classroom for 16 years, Bernadette became a Reading Specialist at Paseo Hills and continued to be an Instructional Coach as well. She then accepted a position as a District Literacy Coach where she helped to support literacy for all K-3 teachers and students district-wide in Deer Valley, where she worked for 7 years. Bernadette is now the EL Learner Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Specialist (CIAS).
In her spare time, Bernadette enjoys spending time with her family. She enjoys traveling in her RV and camping with friends and family. She really enjoys going for adventures with her husband in their razor.
