Beverly Kerr is a fifth generation Arizona native, growing up in the north east part of the valley, attending Aire Libre, Greenway and Vista Verde Middle Schools, and Paradise Valley and North Canyon High School. She attended and received a BA in Secondary Education, history and an M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction in English as a Second Language. Mrs. Kerr spent 18 years in the classroom teaching 7th-12th grade history and English as a Second language at Title I campuses in Arizona, Nevada, and California. After three years as the English Learner teacher at BGHS, and realizing an opportunity to better support English learners and the program at the district level, Mrs. Kerr moved into the CIAS position, and was then promoted to the English Learner Coordinator position after two and a half years as the CIAS.
When not working, Mrs. Kerr is a Girl Scout leader for her two daughters, mentoring young women as they participate in opportunities to expand their experiences and knowledge. She spends time with her son at soccer games, cross country meets and Jiu Jitsu tournaments, encouraging his skill and speed. She also enjoys camping, canoeing, paddle boarding, and exploring backroads in Arizona with her husband and children. Her goal is to see every part of Arizona!
