Early Head Start-Infant Toddler
Infant & Toddler Program
-
Early Head Start is an Infant & Toddler program providing family-centered services for low-income families with very young children from 6 weeks to 2 years and 9 months of age. These programs are designed to promote the development of children, and to enable their parents to fulfill their roles as parents and to move toward self-sufficiency.
-
Tailored for the unique needs of infants and toddlers. Promote the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of infants and toddlers through safe and developmentally enriching caregiving. This prepares these children for continued growth and development and eventual success in school and life.
-
Encourages opportunities for infants and toddlers to engage in movement, play, and exploration
-
At the end of the program, 3-year-old children performed significantly better on a range of cognitive, language, and social and emotional development measures than a randomly assigned control group. Additionally, the parents of the 3-year-olds scored significantly higher than control group parents on many aspects of home environment, parenting behavior, and progress toward self-sufficiency.
