Beth Pietro, RN

    About Nurse Beth:

I have been a registered nurse for over 28 years.    I went straight from nursing school to work at Good Sam Hospital (Banner now) on the medical/surgical floor for several years.   After that, I took a job at Judson School in Paradise Valley.  Judson had an infirmary with RN's on staff 24/7 as we had students that "lived" there from 35 different countries around the world during the school year in addition to the "day" students that came from the Valley.  This was where I started my school nursing experience - I went from a part time weekend nurse to the charge nurse in less than two years.   I then found out that Judson was going to close its doors forever (it had been there for over 60 years).

I got hired at Deer Valley High School as a long term sub nurse in August of 1999.   The nurse I was subbing for passed away, and I was hired as the full time nurse in October where I remained for the next 10 years.   To my surprise, I was nominated for and honored to be awarded the DVUSD School Nurse of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year.

At the end of that same school year, I was offered a position to teach the Introduction to Nursing Class (CNA Program) which was a new direction and challenge for me, so I took the job and taught for 9 years.   I have always enjoyed working with students in the school setting and while I found teaching rewarding in so many ways, I knew that my calling as a nurse was to go back to school nursing.

I came to Norterra Canyon at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year and fell in love with the Pirate way of life!

I am married, have 3 children (all three of them grown) and when I am not at school, I love spending time with my family, being outdoors (I love to fish, canoe and horseback ride) and learning new things.

Please know that my top priority is keeping students healthy, and that my door is always open if you should have any questions or concerns about your child's health.
