Summer Learning
SUPPORTING STUDENTS DURING SUMMER BREAK
The resources below are recommendations to combat the summer learning slide. If your child’s teacher has made other suggestions, please follow their guidance along with these resources.
ELA and Math Recommendations:
Grades K-5
ELA
Amplify Reading (available until July 1)
Capit Kindergarten only (available until July 1)
Independent/Shared Reading is time for students to build stamina and apply skills in reading stories of
choice.
Closed Caption TV Turn off the volume. Have your child read the script or read along with the audio for at least 1 show a day.
Math
DreamBox (available until July 1)
Zearn If your child does not have a classroom account, you can create a Zearn account here.
Khan Academy If your child does not have a classroom account, you can create a Khan Academy account here.
Grades 6-8
ELA
Common Lit is a free resource of reading passages with quick checks for understanding and comprehension skills.
NoRedInk is a free resource site that gives students practice on grammar and writing skills.
Math

Advanced Placement® (AP) – The College Board AP students can log in to access practice tests and review.

Behavior Expectations for Students Learning Online
During this time of online home learning, we want to remind our students and parents the importance of Digital Citizenship and building a positive and productive online learning environment. Please be reminded that when in an online setting,Deer Valley expectations for student conduct still applies including the behavioral expectations outlined in the 2019-2020 Students Rights & Responsibilities Handbook. Inappropriate behavior and/or inappropriate use of technology should be reported to the school principal or assistant principal to address accordingly. .
We encourage parents and guardians to read the terms and privacy policies before creating an account for any online resources used.
