2024 Election Information

On November 5, 2024, voters living within the DVUSD boundaries will have the opportunity to vote on two initiatives passed by the DVUSD governing board for public authorization:
- Special Bond Election in the amount of $325 million to fund safety, security, instructional resources, technology, building renewal, conservation, buses, and student growth through the year 2029.
- Continuation of the existing 15% maintenance and operation (M&O) override. The 2019 voter approved override will be entering the phase down period, and vital funds (approximately $33 million) will no longer be available after December 31, 2024.

On March 19, 2024, the Deer Valley Unified School District’s Governing Board unanimously approved to seek voter authorization of a continuation of the existing 15% override. The 2019 voter approved override will be entering the phase down period and vital funds will no longer be available after December 31, 2024.Without your support, the district will have to reduce the operational budget by over $11 million each of the next three years of the phase down for a total of $33 million.This election will help preserve current fine arts and athletic programs such as art, general and instrumental music, and physical education, as well as maintain class sizes. The funds will also be used to attract and retain highly qualified teachers and support staff.The total cost of the override for homeowners is a continuation of $21.27 per month property tax on the average assessed home value. Your taxes will NOT increase as a result of passage of this override.Passage of the override will ensure that your District will avoid cutting elective classes, programs, and services that directly benefit students and positively impact our community. Supporting the override will allow the continuation of quality educational programs for our students.

Funding for Student Safety Special Bond Election
On March 19, 2024, the Deer Valley Unified School District’s Governing Board called for a 2024 Special Bond Election in the amount of $325,000,000 to fund safety, security, instructional resources, technology, building renewal, conservation, buses and student growth through the year 2029.
The total cost is $15.12 per month on the average assessed home value.
This funding is being structured to NOT INCREASE the projected tax levy.

Population Continues to Boom Within DVUSD Boundaries

In 2022, Applied Economics, LLC reported there will be major increases in the population in the northern part of the DVUSD boundaries by 2032. Since then, TSMC has announced two additional chip plants will be built and operational by 2030.
