Welcome to 5th Grade!
  • Hello 5th Grade Families!

I am pleased to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! I am looking forward to having your child as a student! One of my goals as a teacher is to teach the whole child, not just the academic side of the student. I want each student to know that I don't just see them as a student, but as a unique individual that makes up who they are. This approach to teaching has led me to use the classroom values that I will continue to reference throughout the year: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, and Compassion. These values are very important to me and, hopefully, can be cultivated throughout the year and be used for a lifetime.

As a new school year approaches, I would like to share some helpful hints that I think will make the start of the school year go smoothly.

    • Please make sure your child comes to school prepared to learn. This means they have received a good night's rest, have eaten a healthy breakfast (or will eat at school), have completed any homework, and have supplies for the day. I recommend getting your student into the habit of setting out their belongings the evening before school. By starting off the year doing this, you can build a habit of it at home. Your morning will be calm and organized, and your student will be ready to learn.
    • It is suggested that you send your child to school with a water bottle and a healthy snack each day.
    • Parents, please take a moment to fill out this questionnaire: https://forms.gle/ffhUwNJTvJML7KgBA. This will help me get to know your child and their needs.

Parents, family members, and guardians are the driving force in their students' lives. I encourage you to be involved in our classroom and school, however that may look for you! I welcome and value parent involvement! Please be on the lookout for how you can volunteer in your child's class in the coming weeks. I will be looking for both volunteers and room parents for the 2022-2023 school year.

I hope this information will help you and your child get ready for a new and very exciting school year! I am here to support you and your child, so please don't hesitate to reach out with questions, concerns and celebrations. Please remember there will be more in-depth information on how our classroom runs that you will receive during Curriculum Night. Be on the lookout for dates/times soon!

I am looking forward to an amazing year!
