Welcome to 5th Grade Math 2022-2023 School Year! I am looking forward to teaching you all new math strategies and strengthening your motivation for Math.
Quarter I - 3 Aug - 30 September, we will start with our Eureka Module I, Place value and decimals. It is a review of grade 4 math objectives and 16 lessons. We will then start our Eureka Module II, Multiplying Multi-digit numbers. We are using 5th grade Eureka Math Modules.
Quarter II - 1 October thru 15 December 2022. Module II continues and Module III, Fractions.
You can find the modules also online at the following link:
We are starting with Place Value Patterns and Decimal Operations. Students build from place value understanding in grade 4 to recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and what it represents in the place to its left. They use this place value understanding to round, compare, order, add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals. There are 16 Lessons, then we will start our second Module Titled, Multi-Digit Whole Number and Decimal fraction operations, which has 29 lessons. In Eureka it is titled Unit 6. Starting 6 September 2022 We will start Module II - Multi-digit Whole Numbers and Decimal Fractions Operations. This module is 29 lessons and will continue through quarter II.
