The Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading competition designed to promote the love and appreciation of reading to all elementary school fifth and sixth grade students, while building confidence, friendships, and study skills. The aim of this program is to encourage students to read a variety of books and recall information about the plots, characters, and setting of the books.

Students form their own teams of two or three students to compete and test their knowledge in three exciting school competitions held in the Library Media Center during the 1st hour, once in October, February, and April of the 2022-23 school year. Families are welcome and encouraged to support our competing students throughout the program. Winning teams will move on to regional, district and inter-district-wide competitions. Team members are assigned 4 different books to read during each competition, or a total of 12 books.
