Developmental Preschool at Union Park
Union Park School will have a Developmental Preschool program. The Deer Valley Early Childhood Department provides inclusive preschool classrooms for children ages three – five years old (5 after September 1st). Each classroom is comprised of children who are typically developing, Preschool Peers and those who require specialized instruction, children with identified special education needs.
The classroom will have a certified Early Childhood Special Education Teacher and two Paraprofessionals. The staff are highly qualified and trained to work with children in this age group. The classroom will have two sessions daily (morning and afternoon) which are 2.5 hours long, Monday through Thursday
Therapy services for those children who are eligible include; speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and some children require instruction from teachers for the visually and hearing impaired.
Preschool Peers are an integral part of the classroom as children learn best from each other. Peers are wonderful role models for those children who demonstrate delays in one or more areas of development, and they also learn acceptance of those who function differently. Preschool Peers pay tuition to participate in the classroom-$140 month for a 3-day week or $175 month for a 4-day week.
If you are interested in having your child be a Preschool Peer, please complete the Peer Interest Form and return it to the Early Childhood office. Please note, there is a non-refundable $25 application fee. Preschool Peers will be placed based on the order the applications are received. There are a limited number of spots available. A waitlist will be created after the spots are filled. For questions please contact the Early Childhood Office at 623-445-4991.
