All kindergarten through third grade students are assessed using the Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) in August, December and May. DIBELS measures fluency of various reading skills. Contact your child's teacher to discuss your child's progress and get ideas on how to help your son or daughter with their reading fluency at home.

Some teachers and students in kindergarten, first and second grade are using The Daily Five-literacy tasks in their classrooms.  Daily the students complete the tasks of : reading to themselves, reading with someone, writing, word work and listening to reading.

    Reading Group HOMEWORK:
Generally, students will have assigned homework each day they meet with me.  Usually, it will be to reread a passage or book we read in class.  They may also have to do a "Making Words" lesson or answer some comprehension questions.  Please assist/guide your child in completing the assignment and returning their materials.
