Ms. Quaranta's 6th Grade ELA and Social Studies

    Welcome new parents and students!

Sixth grade is an exciting time as children move into new and challenging adventures in learning. This is a year of important transitions, in both social-emotional and academic growth. Sixth grade brings with it a high demand for steady work ethic wherein acquisition of new skills is accelerated. Knowing that all students do not learn at the same rate or to the same degree, it is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring new skills as he/she is developmentally ready. It will be my goal to ensure that each child is provided the opportunities, support and tools needed to keep succeeding, one step at a time. It is equally important that students have the same support at home.

In our ELA and Social Studies environment, there is a high level of technology use from research, to word processing, textbook access, to skill building and beyond. It is vitally important that students have access to technology at home in order to make the school day working transition to home go most smoothly. Your child will need a quiet place, with access to technology, in order to work on any assigned, extended or incomplete assignments. If your child does not have access to technology (word processing device and internet access) please make an appointment to meet with me so that we can make arrangements to make accommodations for your child.

I believe that all students are capable of academic success if they are given the proper tools, experiences, guidance and support to know they can succeed, which comes from the combined efforts of the parent-teacher-student team!

Students and parents, I wholeheartedly look forward to working with you this new school year!

     Ms. Quaranta
