Hello, and welcome to Mrs. Davenport's art class.
I teach three sections of Ceramics 1-2, one sections of Ceramics 3-4, one section of Intro to Art, and one AP 3D design Studio Art Class. I use the Canvas website for all my classes. The students have a sign-in code which allows them to connect with our classroom documents, assignments and tests. You can find the copy of our class syllabus in Canvas.
This year in ceramics, students will learn about techniques used to create ceramic projects and understand how to create a project from start to finish. I also include opportunities for students to learn how to critique art and use correct art vocabulary based on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. I incorporate English language written assignments on all my projects and when possible incorporate math skills.
Into to Art will focus on understanding the Elements and Principles of Art, muti-media techniques, and understanding the critique process.
In my AP Studio Art class, we concentrat on 3D Design. During this class, students will be working on creating a portfolio of up to 24 quality works in various media, to submit to the College Board in the spring. Students in AP class are required to spend additional time at home working on art projects. The focus will be to create up to 12 works of art for the Breadth section and up to 12 works for the Consentration section of the portfolio. All AP Studio Art students are required to submit a portfolio to the College Board as this is considered the final art test for this class.
If you have any questions about the lessons in my classroom, please feel free to email me. I do have office hours on Wednesdays after school from 2:30-3:30, but I usually arrive at school by 7:00 if you need to call me. The best way to contact me is by email, Jeff.Davenport@dvusd.org.
