Welcome to my Home Page

Hello and welcome to Mrs. Davenports' Ceramics and Intro to Art classes.

I teach three sections of Ceramics 1-2, three sections of Ceramics 3-4, two sections of Intro to Art, and one section of 3D Portfolio this year.  I use the Canvas website for all my classes.  The students have a sign-in code which allows them to connect with our classroom documents, assignments and tests.  You can find the copy of our class syllabus in Canvas.

For the beginning of school year, we will be online through Canvas and Zoom.  The login code and password will be in the Announcements in the Canvas home page.

This year in ceramics, students will learn about techniques used to create clay projects and understand how to begin a project from start to finish.  I also include opportunities for students to learn how to critique art, and use correct art vocabulary based on the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design.  I incorporate English language written assignments on all my projects and when possible incorporate math skills.

Our ceramics program will be guided by our Professional Learning Community. Deer Valley High School will work collaboratively with Sandra Day O'Connor,  Bolder Creek, Barry Goldwater, and Mountain Ridge High School, to create a "Best Practices Curriculum" for all ceramics students.

My goal is to engage your student, and guide them to lean, understand, and be able to create various projects using several hand building techniques. My students success is my ultimate goal.  I provide many opportunities for students to practice and resubmit projects anytime during the semester. Please have your student ask for assistance or schedule a time for tutoring if necessary.

If you have any questions about the lessons or any other concerns, please feel free to get in touch with me.  I have office hours via Zoom 2:30-4:00 Monday-Thursday. The best way to contact me to schedule an appointment is by email, Jeff.Davenport@dvusd.org or through Canvas which I check several times a day.

I do have an office phone, but I may not be near my office to answer my phone.  If you would like to leave a message, you can call 602-467-6878, and I will get back with you as soon as I can.

    Thank you,

    Mrs. Davenport
