Zac Abrams, AVID CoordinatorIt is my pleasure to welcome you to the AVID Program at Deer Valley Middle School! AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) exists to help all students to develop the academic skills needed to succeed in middle school, high school, and eventually college. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness in a global society. Here you will find lots of valuable information to help with your success in the AVID Program. Please refer to the pages for further assistance, and remember that I check my email 100,000 times each day; feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!A Quick Note About Virtual Learning:
It's a bit of a change, I know, but for rest of the school year, we will be doing our class on Canvas. To get there, go to https://dvusd.instructure.com/.
All of your assignments will be grouped together on the Canvas Home Page under the weekly modules. For example, everything for this week is found under the "Week of April 6" module.
We are all figuring this out together, so make sure you are communicating any and all of your worries with me during these uncertain times. I am checking my email (Zac.Abrams@dvusd.org) regularly, so I am easy to reach 24/7. I will also have Office Hours via Zoom for each class period during the week. Check the weekly module on Canvas for the days and times of your class's Office Hours.
I miss you guys very much. I hope we can all see each other again real soon. In the meantime, remember that you are AMAZING AVID STUDENTS and that the expectations are still the same.
