21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) is a five-year federal grant that was awarded to Esperanza Elementary in 2019. We are now in our second year of this program. This program is designed to be an intensive, but fun, academic intervention for targeted students who would benefit from this type of service. In addition to the academic program, the students also have an enrichment component that helps students grow as caring, respectful, and kind people.
The selected students that participated in the before/after school program in September 2022 are based on student academic scores. When looking at the data, we will also look at family trends to ensure all students meeting the 21st Century Grant and their families will be invited to participate in the 21st CCLC program. A “scholarship letter” is sent to parents and students inviting them to participate in the 21st CCLC program. This is a positive, interactive academic/enrichment opportunity for students to master grade-level or enrich skills and for parents to expand their knowledge of their child’s education by participating in family activities.
