Things to know about First Grade:
Volunteering at Esperanza – If you would like to participate in parties, field trips or just helping in the classroom or on campus, you must attend a volunteer training class. This is a one-time requirement, if you attended a training last year for kindergarten you do not need to attend again. Contact Karla Weinzheimer in the office for dates and times. You can support your child and myself by:
-
Checking your child’s backpack daily
-
Attending conferences, field trips, and helping out in the classroom
-
Reading with your child for at least 20 minutes a day
-
Helping your child with their homework
-
Keeping me informed of any changes that are happening in your child’s life
-
Letting me know of any learning or behavior problems
I believe that for a student to succeed there must be a strong parent-teacher relationship. One of the key components for this to happen is communication. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns that you have. You can either send me a note, dojo, or email me at karen.lock@dvusd.org. However, Dojo is the easiest and quickest. I look forward to building a strong relationship with you and your child this year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lock
