Dear Third Grade Families,
Together, we are facing an unprecedented situation with the school closure. Right now I hope you are all enjoying your time with your families and staying safe.
This week, the district offices will be managing the online learning opportunities for all families. Teachers have been explicitly instructed to refrain from any academic assignments for our students until April 6th. In the mean time, I have added a new page to our classroom website with online resources and activity suggestions for your children.
As always, the digital programs we use at school are available to your children at home. These include Typingclub.com (for typing skills, which they will need), Code.org (for programming skills), RAZ-Kids (to progressively support their reading skills), and Dreambox (aligned with our math curriculum and accessible through the DVUSD portal). NOTE: If your child uses Dreambox, please do NOT help. The program is designed to "read" their errors and self-adjust. If you support your child, the program will read YOUR work and progress too quickly for your child to be successful. If you need log-in information for your child, please reach out to me via my school email (email@example.com) and I'll send you the information you request for your child.
Please watch your email for information from the district. The current plan is that your child will have assignments that will be specific to our class starting on April 6th.
May you remain healthy and safe as we get through this together.
Ms. Michelle DeVoe
