David Duarte, david.duarte@dvusd.org,
has taught Band, Orchestra, Chorus, General Music, Music History, Music
Humanities, and A.P. Music Theory during his 20+ years in education. In
addition to teaching music humanities for the Deer Valley Online Learning Program, Mr. Duarte serves as
the fine arts curriculum instructional specialist for DVUSD. In 2005 he
earned the Arizona Music Educators Association O.M. Hartsell Excellence
in Music Teaching Award and was a Deer Valley Education Foundation
Teacher of the Year the following year. The National Band Association
named him Jazz Educator of the Year in 2008. Mr. Duarte has been the
Principal Saxophonist for the Tempe Symphonic Wind Ensemble since 1994. “You can teach a student a
lesson for a day; but if you can teach them to learn by creating
curiosity, they will continue the learning process as long as they

Jason Lohmeier, Jason.Lohmeier@dvusd.org, earned
a bachelors of fine arts degree from the University of Arizona in 2004,
where he majored in Art Education and minored in Drawing. He has been
teaching Visual Art in the Deer Valley Unified School District for the past ten

Stephanie Sullinger-Dukarm, stephanie.dukarm@dvusd.org,
is an ASU graduate certified in Art Education. She has been teaching
since 1999 and has taught Art Humanities,Introduction to Art, Drawing
1-2, Painting 1-2, Drawing 3-4, 2D Portfolio, AP Studio Art Drawing and
2D Design. Prior to going into education she was a Visual Manager for 10
years. Not surprisingly, her hobbies include painting and photography.
