"Team Snapshot" with subject updates for the month/quarterWe are past our six weeks and on our second Titan Passport. Please make an effort to review your student's passport each week to celebrate and discuss anything with them.ELA: In the first quarter, students will be asked, 'What do we do when life gets hard?'. We will utilize fiction to examine the actions taken and emotions felt during life's challenges. Students will learn annotation, context clues, figurative language, and textual evidence as we analyze characters, settings, and story structures.
MATH: We have just completed our first unit, which focused on calculating the area of parallelograms, triangles, polygons, as well as the surface area of prisms and pyramids. The students have developed a solid understanding of these concepts. Starting Thursday, September 4, we will begin a new unit on ratios and unit rates. Please remind your student to complete four Zearn lessons each week as part of their homework.
Science: Quarter 1; What is energy and matter? Students will explore various types of elements to determine where to classify objects.
Social Studies: We are now in our third unit, Egypt. All of these assignments will be in the second quarter grades. Don't forget, as we learn each unit, we discover how the ancient people's lives compare to ours using the GRAPES method.
