I am a proud Lumberjack of Northern Arizona University where I ran track (indoor & outdoor) for three years and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. I completed graduate work at Arizona State University and University of Phoenix earning a Masters Degree in Secondary Education and a Masters Degree in Educational Counseling. I have previously taught ENG 7-8, AP Comp & Lit., College Prep English, AP US History, and ENG 5-6. This is my 24th year teaching – and my 4th year at Mountain Ridge and am the sprint and relays coach for track.
I was a ‘Pride of Peoria’ winner (teacher of the year) in 2008, and earned West Valley and Desert West Region coach of the year 5x (Track & Field / Wrestling). I also earned the Rookie Athletic Director of the Year for Arizona in 2016. In 2017 I was named the Instructor of the Year for the Arizona Army National Guard.
When I am not teaching or coaching I enjoy spending time with my wife Tracy and our 4 dogs (Joe, Max, Lucy, Liadan). I am also in the Arizona Army National Guard (enlisted in 2001) and am currently the Chief Instructor at the Regional Training Institute (RTI) and am the Senior NCO Trainer at the Officer Candidate School (OCS).
