We are excited that your child will be in our classes this year! We look forward to working together with you to make this a positive and memorable year of learning.
To promote success in 2nd grade, here are some things you can do:
- Spend at least 20 minutes (outside of school) reading with your child. (There are benefits of both the child reading to someone, as well as someone reading to the child. It's ok to do a little of both.)
- Talk about what you have read. Discuss the events of the stories or traits that the characters possess.
- Be sure to check your child’s take-home folder for information, permission slips, etc.
- If homework is given, it is intended to be for independent practice to apply newly learned skills, and should only take a short time. If it seems overly difficult, please let your child’s teacher know.
