For the week of December 17, 2018This week will be one of those rare but exciting weeks in math: NO HOMEWORK! When does that ever happen?!However, beginning in January, any student who doesn't do assigned homework for math will be a required to attend mandatory after school tutoring. This is not for punitive measures. This is to help ensure students will have the necessary understanding of the concepts in order to be successful on upcoming assessments.I will be sending home more information regarding this after the break, but If you have any questions regarding this, please email me.Please remember that 30 DreamBox lessons are due by Friday, December 21. This was announced early in the quarter, and the 30 lessons are cumulative from October 15 to December 21. These 30 lessons will be recorded as an assessment grade for the quarter 2 gradebook.Monday: Check Unit 4 homework for Lessons 2, 3, 4, and 5Minute 9/10 due on Friday. Students are encouraged to do their best the first time and submit completed work on Friday. If a problem is confusing, students are encouraged to ask for help during class or at one of the many tutoring sessions scheduled for math.

DreamBox requirement for November 9:
Students need to have AT LEAST 10 lessons completed by Friday, November 9. I will be running a report from October 15 to November 9 to collect this data. This requirement will be recorded in PowerSchools. We have had many opportunities to work on DreamBox at school, and most students have well over 10 lessons completed. If your student does not have at least 10 by now, he or she needs to work on this at home as homework.
Students in 7th grade math should be logging into DreamBox Learning for 20 minutes two times a week. The expected number of lessons completed outside of class should be at least four a week. DreamBox Learning Math is "an interactive, adaptive, self-paced program that provides engaging activities for students to learn and practice skills in mathematics."
Progress in the software will be monitored weekly and students will earn homework points for reaching the expected number of minutes and lessons completed.
To log into DreamBox from home:
1. Go to the Deer Valley Unified District Portal
2. Students need to log into the portal then click the "more" button on the lower left side of the screen.
3. Clicking more will display the menu of applications available to the students in alphabetical order. Find the DreamBox link box and click it!
4. This will automatically launch the software!
