• Welcome to 6th Grade!

It’s an exciting time for 6th grade students and teachers as we transition students from elementary school to middle school. This year students will be part of two Core Teacher-Teams. Students will have two teachers that share the four subjects of Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Moreover, it is a time of change with the adoption of the common core standards and new test practices. As your students teachers we look forward to sharing in these exciting times and giving your child the tools and confidence needed to be successful in the coming year.

    Methods of Assessment and Grading

Formative and summative assessments will be used to assess student learning. Standards based grading practices will be used to indicate academic performance. Also, 6th Grade is going green and checking PowerSchool regularly is expected. Please be sure to pick up your access password from the office.

We consider homework as practice that is an extension of concept and content standards that have been taught. Students and parents can expect an hour of practice every night for subject specific assignments and additional independent reading for thirty minutes. Completed homework practice is expected and will determine test retake eligibility for standards based grading practices.
